La Compagnie du Bicarbonate Sodium Percarbonate Refillable Bottle 1.1kg Sodium percarbonate combines the properties of hydrogen peroxide (which releases oxygen) and soda crystals (also called sodium carbonate), which is a powerful degreaser and surfactant. 1kg refillable bottle from La Compagnie du Bicarbonate. Indications It is rare to find a product as versatile as sodium percarbonate. It can also sometimes be found under the names "sodium carbonate peroxhydrate" or "sodium peroxyhydrated carbonate" and is even sometimes called "solid hydrogen peroxide." With the formula 2Na2CO3-3H2O2, it is manufactured from sodium carbonate, also called "soda crystals," and hydrogen peroxide. This is how it transforms when diluted in water, combining the benefits of these two molecules with very useful and complementary properties. It is soluble in water, at a rate of 120 g/liter at 20 °C for pure water (distilled water). Soda crystals (Na2CO3) are a powerful degreaser and water softener that neutralizes limescale in water and enhances the effectiveness of soaps, dissolving many organic stains (grease, sauces, blood...). It can be used as a surfactant. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a powerful whitener and disinfectant due to its strong oxidizing power via the oxygen it releases. Both also combine to deodorize laundry and all surfaces. The environmental profile of percarbonate is also one of its major assets, as after dissociating into sodium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide, it "degrades" very quickly in water without leaving a trace. It therefore does not lead to bio-accumulation of polluting substances. It can thus usefully replace phosphates and bleach, whose major disadvantages in terms of ecology are well known. Percarbonate is produced in Europe with generally local resources (including natural chalk and geological salt). As it is a very effective and powerful product, it requires some precautions in use. It is precisely to limit the impact of detergent products that the use of sodium percarbonate has developed since the 1990s throughout the world, and particularly in North America and Italy. Caution: Once mixed, percarbonate becomes more unstable, and any preparation (even more so if there are other components like soaps in the water) must be used within 1 to 4 hours. Indeed, as hydrogen peroxide oxidizes upon contact with organic matter, it will lose its properties even more as there is more of it in the water (via soap, for example). Our percarbonate is 100% percarbonate! It contains no preservatives, no additives, and is therefore much more powerful than all "percarbonate-based" products found in the detergent aisle. Its pH (Hydrogen potential) is quite high (basic), around 10.5.
