In the wild and remote mountainous regions of this small country on the other side of the world grows the Manuka tree, also known as the South Sea myrtle. From the flowers of this tree, which can reach up to 4 meters in height, bees obtain a unique nectar that acquires a special property in the honeycombs of the hive. The Maori, the indigenous people of New Zealand, already attributed special properties to the Manuka tree and have used it for centuries.

A possible reason for this could be the ingredient methylglyoxal, often abbreviated as "MGO". For many years, research has been conducted on the specific effect of MGO. It is a sugar degradation product that possesses antibacterial properties. Due to the special nature of the Manuka tree's nectar, Manuka honey has an MGO content many times higher than that of other types of honey.

Laboratory tested and certified: every batch of our Manuka honey is carefully tested before shipment from New Zealand, and then again after its arrival, by certified and accredited laboratories. The honey is only released for sale if all values meet or exceed our requirements.
